21 Day Detox and Educational Seminar--Smashing Success!!!

Cody and I loved presenting an introduction to RAW foods and nutritional detoxing to more than 25 men and women (experienced and inexperienced RAW-foodists alike). It was a fun, educational and entertaining experience at Kristie's house in Springville this morning!

Cody, an amazing personal trainer (Elevate Utah and Pro-Phit) and food expert, presented the concept of a 21 day body and nutrition detox to our audience while Leanna and I sliced, diced, blended and juiced the fantastic and healthy recipes Cody encouraged and outlined for the 21 day detox in a faux Blend-tec vs Vitamix competition --the verdict is still out on which one was the winner :)

Cody discussed the physical and mental benefits of a body detox from both her personal uses, and professional experiences with clients as a personal trainer. I presented the many medical benefits to healthy eating and RAW foods. I also discussed the importance of recognizing balanced-health in the body. When the body is out of balance, whether it is due to hormone deficiencies, nutritional deficiencies, stress, adrenal fatigue, exercise deficiency, poor sleep or emotional upset, the resulting imbalances and compensations that take place in our bodies cause disease, unhealthy and advanced aging.

Leanna talked about her own experience with adrenal fatigue, and how eating RAW foods, changing her eating habits, balancing her hormones, treating her vitamin deficiencies, and balancing her health have foundationally changed her life forever. She is even back on track with her ironman triathlon training! What a great testiment to healthy living and lifstyle change! Cody and I encouraged our audience to remember that how much we eat, what we eat, how we prepare our food, and the nutritional content of our meals is something that offers us control over our health AND over disease processes. Essentially, this means we have the power to choose if our desire is to be healthy, or if our desire to develop the diseases most commonly associated with poor dietary choices and increased body weight, such as: adult onset diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease, heart disease, and stroke.

After reversing her adult onset diabetes with healthy lifestyle changes, and discontinuing more than 5 chronic-disease medications, one of my favorite patients said to me just a few months ago: "eating healthy isn't always easy or convient, but neither was diabetes." Very well said!! When we decide to eat foods that are good for us, lose weight, exercise, and balance the health of the body, the result is an amazing improvement in our overall health and well-being.

I educated our audience on the important roles that the adrenal gland, hormones, vitamins, and stress play in our health. I also discussed the value of yeast cleanses (both probiotics and yeast enzymes) in improving our gastrointestinal health, energy, cognition, absorption of vitamins and maintaining a healthy body weight.

Our audience enjoyed several meal tasters that we prepared for them including: an energy smoothie with almond butter and cardamom; apple, ginger, lemon, and spinach juice; basic quinoa salad; and zucchini with basal soup. Sooooo good!!

Balanced and healthy living to you all,
